Bach Flower Remedies

Bach Flower Remedies for health

Bach Flower Remedies – now THIS is Flower Power!
‘Bread feeds the body indeed, but flowers
feed also the soul.’ – The Koran
Flowers are not only a delight to the senses, their essences can actually improve your health by getting to the emotional root the problem stems from. Flower extracts can treat a variety of unwanted emotional conditions by flushing out negative feelings, which many believe will also rectify any physical symptoms the emotions have created.
Every plant, and every flower remedy, has it’s own signature vibration. When we ingest the plant’s positive vibration, it helps shift our own vibration.
Dr. Edward Bach, an English homeopathic physician, developed Bach flower remedies in the early 1900s. He believed negative emotional or psychological states are the source of physical illnesses, and scoured the English countryside for flowers with healing properties.
Bach experimented on himself to determine which flower helped different emotional states. Through trial and error he identified the 38 wildflowers used in Bach Flower Remedies.
Bach was able to isolate the vibration and capture it in a medium of water, so it could be used internally to help shift negative feelings. Not interested in conducting studies to prove his product to the world, Bach preferred to simply demonstrate it and let people to prove it to themselves.
The flower extracts used are highly diluted solutions made from 38 different flowers called ‘mother tinctures.’ They are created by two means; the sun method and the boiling method.
In the sun method, flower heads are floated in a glass bowl filled with spring water in the sun for three hours. Then the flower heads are removed and the remaining energized water mixed 50/50 with full strength 80 proof brandy. In the boiling method, flowering twigs are placed in a pan of spring water and boiled for half an hour.
The pan is allowed to cool, then the plant matter is removed and the water mixed 50/50 with 80 proof brandy. Drops of the mixture are then further diluted in brandy and bottled for personal use. Patients are directed to put two drops in a one ounce dropper bottle and fill it with mineral water, and refrigerate it.
Bach’s intention was to create a simple, effective system that was easy to use, so people of all walks of life would be able to heal themselves.
The remedies are designed to be used to relieve existing emotional  difficulties, rather than to prevent them. Bach Flower remedies may be taken more frequently in times of crisis, with no risk of overdose or addiction. When the emotional issue has been resolved, you may discontinue the treatment immediately. No weaning off is required.

Essential Self-Care for Lightworkers

imagesEssential Self-care to Turn your Inner Critic into your Inner Cheerleader :

Why gaining control of your inner dialogue is critical to your success

Self-care doesn’t come automatically because we’re so conditioned to think it’s being selfish, thoughtless, bad. About 80% of our thoughts are old, negative, habitual thoughts that have been playing in our minds for years.

Because it’s been playing in the background for so long, most people don’t even notice it’s there.

Unless you have a particularly supportive inner voice (most of us don’t until we deliberately change it) it’s going to want to keep you in your comfort zone.

That little voice is dictating the level of success you experience.

If part of you just asked, ‘what little voice’, that’s the little voice I’m talking about!

These chronic thoughts were instilled by well-meaning parents, teachers and other adults, and though we automatically accept them as true, they probably aren’t.

The good news is, when you take the time to notice and get to know this little voice and get familiar with your habitual thoughts, you can take steps to change them forever. You can train yourself to think in a specific way, enabling you to attract what you want.

We are always in control of what we think. Though it sometimes seems our thoughts think themselves, you are actually choosing them, even if it’s out of habit. The key is to consciously choose supportive thoughts that take you where you want to go.

There are two sides to every topic – if thinking a thought makes you feel bad, try to turn it around. A very helpful process is to think, “this is what I don’t want, so what do I want” and think of the positive aspects of that topic.

There are specific processes to over-ride negative thoughts and take control. This is where affirmations come in. Affirmations are thoughts you deliberately choose because you want the effects they’ll bring.

They should always be worded in the present tense, as if you’ve already achieved the goal, and should always be phrased in the most positive way possible

For example, when you notice you’re thinking a thought such as, “my business is a failure, I don’t have what it takes,” picture a stop sign in your mind and say STOP – then rephrase with an affirmation or affirmation that serves you.

Choose an affirmation that resonates with you, such as “I am in the process of becoming a highly respected successful business owner”.

By adding the line “in the process” you counter your mind’s argument that you’re lying to yourself.

I recommend you work on one area of your life at a time. Write your affirmation 10x a day, or sing it, incorporate it into your life any way you can.

You might like to record yourself saying your affirmations and listening to while you go for your stress-relieving walk!

I will not share how to notice, challenge and change negative programming forever, and why eliminating negative programming is essential to you’re playing a bigger game

We attract what we think about the most, whether we want it or not, through the Law 0f Attraction. So it is essential to uncover and reverse any negative programming we have running in the background, so we attract what we want instead of what we don’t want.

An afformation is similar to an affirmation, and is used the same way, but they are phrased as questions. They may work for you when affirmations fail. They can work better than affirmations in some cases, because your mind doesn’t tend to negate them. An example of an affirmation is, “how did I become such a successful business owner?”

Every time you make the effort to change habitual thoughts that don’t serve you, you weaken the power of that statement.

You also create new positive neurological pathways that strengthen your new resolve, and make it progressively easier to think positive thoughts that enable you to achieve whatever you set out to do!

Think of your thought pathways like a path in the grass – when you stop walking a certain path, it will grow over, and you will habitually walk the new path of your choosing!

There is an easy short-cut to promoting more health, wealth and happiness in your life: develop an attitude of gratitude to become a vibrational match to all the things you want!

You have far more control over the events of your life than you might imagine. We are vibrational beings, and our thoughts and feelings match up with other thoughts, people and circumstances. By intentionally raising your vibration (improving your mood) on a consistent basis, your entire life will improve.

Some simple techniques you can begin today to see real change in your life include gratitude lists, meditation, and visualization.

To cultivate an attitude of gratitude, start your day with a gratitude list, basically counting your blessings and writing them down! You might also incorporate gratitude into your stress-relieving walk – mentally saying ‘thank you’ with each step you take. And in addition to your 15 minute daily meditation, invest 5 minutes in visualizing your life, and your business, exactly the way you want it to be.

Think of it as daydreaming, with purpose! Make your visualization as real as possible – it’s the blueprint of what you want to create.

Your brain can’t tell the difference between reality, and the reality you’re imagining. For, as Einstein said, “imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.” Put these techniques to work for you, and feel free to comment below and share your results!

The Reiki Principles – Just For Today

Reiki Principles

Reiki Principles

The Reiki Principles
Just for Today – Everyday!
As a Reiki Master I have done my best to live by these words of wisdom. The Reiki Principles are as valid today as when Dr. Usui wrote them in the 1800’s. Try it yourself – just for today! Then do it again tomorrow. I have included my interpretation of what each principle means to me personally below each one.
1) Just for today I will let go of anger
Anger is a negative waste of energy. You can try to control it by taking a deep breath and asking who you are really mad at. Are you angry because someone doesn’t hold the same view as you? If so, honor their views and allow them their frailties. Put yourself in their place and see how they may feel. Has someone simply made a mistake? You may discover it is yourself you are really angry with. Perhaps aspects of yourself are being mirrored in others. Rather than just reacting, explore your anger.
2) Just for today I will let go of worry
Worry is an energy thief that causes mental and physical damage. Be aware of the worry ad try to let it go. Ask yourself, what am I worried about? Why does this worry me? What is the worst that can happen? Am I just speculating about an event? Can I do anything about it? If yes, then do it. If not, shift your thinking. Take a deep breath. Do Reiki!
3) Just for today I will give thanks for my many blessings
In this society we are constantly being brainwashed about what ‘things’ we must have to be happy, and we are led to believe everyone else has more! To put this in perspective, take stock of all the good things in your life. Try writing a daily gratitude list, listing things like your health, having a loving family and friends, living in a free country, having a roof over your head, food in your belly and clothes on your back. Try to imagine your life without these things, and send a prayer out to those less fortunate than yourself.
4) Just for today I will do my work honestly
Work to improve yourself and you will benefit yourself and others all around you. We cannot change others, but by changing ourselves we can affect them in a positive way
5) Just for today I will be kind to all living things
This includes our planet and all the people and creatures on it, as we are all part of a whole. Think to yourself, what will the effect be if I speak or act in a particular way? Will it cause discomfort to another? What will happen if I don’t act in this particular way? Can I live more in harmony and still care for myself?
I hope you enjoyed this article on Reiki Principles – I’d love to hear the impact they make on your life!

The Benefits of Dry Brushing Your Skin

dry brush

dry brush

The benefits of dry brushing your skin are numerous. Want soft clear skin? Better muscle tone? Healthy immune system? Try Dry brushing! Dry skin brushing is part of Ayurveda’s cleansing techniques. Ayurveda is a 5000-year-old science originating in India, so this technique has definitely stood the test of time!

Benefits of dry skin brushing

  • Removes dead skin
  • Stimulates blood circulation
  • Helps release fatty deposits under skin’s surface.
  • Rejuvenates your cells
  • Strengthens your immune system
  • Increases muscle tone
  • Improves skin texture
  • Helps prevent premature ageing
  • Helps the flow of lymph fluid throughout the body

How to Dry Brush

  • Dry brush your skin before you shower. Be easy on your skin till you get used to it, then gradually increase the pressure
  • Use a natural bristled brush, as nylon brushes can damage your skin. A long handled one will make it easier to brush your back
  • Beginning with the soles of your feet, brush upwards toward your heart
  • When you’ve dry brushed your legs, dry brush your hands and arms, again working toward your heart
  • Now brush your back
  • Brush your belly in clockwise, then gently brush chest and neck
  • The entire process should take about five minutes. Now you’re ready to shower! For an extra treat, indulge in a self-massage using warm olive oil (I like to add a few drops of Lavender Oil) to nurture your skin

I hope this article has encouraged you to try dry brushing! Drop me a line and let me know how it works for you!

Top Tips To Stay In The Vortex While Sick

index

If you follow Abraham-Hicks, as I do, you’re familiar with the Vortex. If not, in a nutshell the vortex is how Abe describes the a state of vibration in which you are aligned with your non-physical self.
When you’re feeling good, you’re in the vortex and are a match to all the things you want. When you feel bad you’re out of it, and are a match to what you don’t want.
Some days it’s very easy to be in the vortex. Other days, when you wake up with a bad cold, flu, or something more serious, it’s more challenging. The more time you spend in the Vortex, the fewer bugs you tend to pick up. That’s because it’s not about the latest out-break, ultimately whether you sick or not is about your dominant vibration.
That said, some years the bugs are more voracious than others. And maybe you’ve increased your exposure because you’ve been helping others who are infected. Either way, getting sick is not a failure and certainly not a reason to beat up on yourself, that would just cause your vibration to plummet more. As Abe would say, it’s just contrast. The worse you feel, the more ‘healthy’ you put in your vortex, which is of benefit to you when you get back in there!
Here are my top tips for staying in the vortex even when feeling poorly:

While convalescing, spend your time doing something uplifting
I recommend listening to Abraham-Hicks, there are many clips available on YouTube if you don’t have your own collection. During my recent bout with Strep Throat I spent a lot of time on the couch in front of the fire, watching Abe DVDs. Just listening to their positive message lifted my spirits.

Practice “acting as if” you were well
Convalescing is an excellent time to practice mastering the Law of Attraction by taking control of your thoughts.
‘Acting as if’ is an Abe technique in which you practice the feelings you’ll feel when you’ve achieved your goal – in this case, returning to health. To do this, deliberately choose your thoughts. Rather than telling anyone who’ll listen how miserable you feel, direct your thoughts and words to how good it will feel to feel good again!

Write Lists of Appreciation
One thing about being sick, it sure makes you appreciate your health. Use this to your advantage by writing lists of appreciation about it.
Remember a time when you felt vibrantly healthy. Savour this feeling, and take advantage of  this new-found hyper-awareness by writing a list about what you most enjoy about being healthy.
Concentrate on really feeling this appreciation – the longer you hold yourself in that vibration, the more evidence of it will be attracted to you, through the Law of Attraction. Following these tips will not only hasten your recovery, it will make the illness that much easier to bare.

Color your world with Color Therapy

Color your world

When you want to change your inner landscape, color therapy can help you color your world more to your liking!
What color are you today? Are you feeling blue, or in the pink? A little green with envy perhaps? The fact that color is such an integral part of our language reflects the powerful impact it has on us.
The colors we surround ourselves with affect and reflect our health and emotions, as well the image we project to others. Our eyes can distinguish approximately 1,000 distinct colors and over 2,000 shades and tints; we respond to them instinctively, feeling drawn to the ones that make us feel good.
Civilizations as early as the ancient Egyptians realized that color has powerful energies, and used color therapy to help restore physical, mental and spiritual well being.
Modern science has established that our bodies need a daily minimum of 15 minutes exposure to full-spectrum light (white light or sunlight) to maintain health and prevent symptoms similar to jet-lag.
Color rays are made up of varying light and energy frequencies, and each band has a different healing quality. Red, at one end of the spectrum, has a long wavelength, a slow vibration, and a stimulating action whereas violet, at the other, has a short wavelength, vibrates quickly, and has a calming action.
All colors have both positive and negative aspects; too much or too little can cause imbalance in the system. A color therapy practitioner may suggest that you eat more of a certain color of food, change a decorating scheme to incorporate a specific shade, or add certain colors to your wardrobe. They may also suggest different ways of treating any color deficiencies. In color therapy, colors can be applied to the body physically, through exposure to light rays, or mentally, through visualization or meditation.
With color therapy, your colors can through meditation and creative visualization as you are led on an imaginary journey full of color to balance your chakras.
Once you become familiar with the the energies associated with different colors you can let your intuition be your guide. A quick wardrobe check will reveal a preference for a particular color; preferences or strong aversions to a shade is a sign your body needs that particular wave length.
What Different colors Represent
The color waves we draw to ourselves radiate out to everyone we come in contact with, enabling us to have a positive impact on the world simply by harmonizing our colors. Each color in the spectrum represents an emotional state, and can be used to treat different conditions:
Red represents passion and energy, and is a strong stimulant.
Very little is used in color healing because it can cause inflammation and over-excitability, though small amounts can be helpful in treating anemia and depression.
Orange has a freeing action on the body, and is frequently used in color healing because of the energy and the wisdom it imparts. Orange is also useful in promoting self-confidence, and healing nervous complaints.
Yellow, the color of joy and happiness, has a cleansing and purifying effect on the body. It also stimulates sluggish digestion and enhances concentration.
Green combines the wisdom of yellow with the truth of blue. It acts as a harmonizer, is beneficial for nervous complaints, and imparts peace of mind and clear memory.
Blue is soothing and promotes healing. It reduces fevers and blood pressure, acts as an antiseptic and pain-killer, and encourages acceptance of things that cannot be changed, bringing peace of mind.
Indigo is a purifying color that calms the mind. It’s used to enhance psychic development, and is helpful in treating migraine and other painful conditions.
Violet helps treat all nervous and mental disturbances and is beneficial for lung disorders. So you can see how important color is to our health, and how it can be used to keep our chakras clear and balanced.
