Oil Pulling Benefits
What oil pulling benefits can you expect? Well, I had the best dental check-up ever after only two weeks of oil pulling! It helps prevent cavities and gum disease and promotes good dental health. This ancient Ayurvedic practice has been used for 5,000 years to “pull” bacteria, parasites and other toxins from your teeth and mucus membranes by simply swishing a tablespoon of high quality oil in your mouth for 20 – 30 minutes once or twice a day.
According to Ayurveda, your tongue is connected to organ meridians, so tongue health is very important to your overall health, both in treating and preventing illness. In addition, as you pull the oil through your teeth and around your mouth, your tongue is able to absorb all the nutrients from the oil. Sesame oil, for example, has antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties as well as being rich in omega-3 fatty acids, iron, calcium, magnesium, copper and phosphorus and vitamins A, B and E.
Oil Pulling Directions
As soon as you wake up, before you eat, drink or brush your teeth, put a tablespoon of cold pressed oil in your mouth. Try sesame, cocoanut or sunflower oil, or alternate them.
Swish the oil around in your mouth, pulling it through your teeth and around all surfaces of your mouth.
Don`t swallow the oil! When the time is up, spit the oil into the garbage to avoid clogging your plumbing.
After you spit, rinse your mouth with a baking soda and water mix, then brush with natural toothpaste. And you’re done! Remember to use this technique daily for best results! Once you give it a go, let us know how you make out!
