Learn Reiki for Pets
Learn Reiki for pets? But of course! Reiki healing works for people and animals alike; I’ve used it quite successfully with my cats and dogs.
Doing Reiki for pets promotes energy, health and well-being and can add years of quality living to your pet’s life!
Animal reiki helps healthy cats stay that way, and gives fast pain relief for cats recovering from injury or surgery. When you learn Reiki for pets also promotes a strong bond between you and your pet.
Reiki is a powerful, gentle form of holistic healing that compliments conventional medicine beautifully. Anyone can learn reiki for pets, and I highly recommend that every pet owner learn this skill!
Unlike humans, animals have no preconceived notions regarding energy work that could interfere with the healing. You’ll often see results after the first treatment!
As well as giving general pain relief for cats, reiki for pets can help with emotional issues like anxiety, which can lead to behavioral problems. You can also treat serious health issues with reiki.
Like humans, cats and dogs have seven primary energy centers known as chakras. These are the Root Chakra, located at the base of the tail, followed by the Sacral Chakra, the Solar Plexus Chakra, Heart Chakra, Throat Chakra, Third-eye Chakra and Crown Chakra.
As with people, each chakra is associated with specific organs and glands, so you can target the healing accordingly, or begin at the root and give a full-body reiki for pets treatment.
For best results, before beginning the healing session you should center yourself through meditation or by performing a brief reiki session on yourself.
Ensure you have a quiet space to conduct the healing where you won’t be disturbed, and clear it with smudging, white light or reiki.
You might like to lightly rub each chakra center before beginning reiki for pets. Before administering animal reiki on your pet, be sure to center yourself through meditation or by performing a brief reiki session on yourself.
Then connect with your cat or dog to familiarize them with your energy. Patting and softly talking to them to help relax them for their reiki treatment.
If the treatment is for pain relief, hold your hands slightly above them and project the healing energy to the affected area.
When performing reiki for pets it’s important to stay mentally present and watch for cues that will tell you your pet has had enough for this session, such as appearing restless or agitated or otherwise resisting your efforts.
But don’t be surprised if your cat purrs itself to sleep! Reiki promotes deep relaxation in people, and animal reiki can have the same effect. When the treatment is over, be sure to wash your hands to break the energetic connection.
Sometimes pain relief for pets can only come with their passing. Though this is always emotionally difficult, you can learn reiki to help dying animals in their transition, thus bringing comfort both to the cat and their owners.
But it’s important to remember the animal in question has free will regarding when they choose to exit, and remain respectful to their choice however difficult it is to accept.
I had a direct experience with this when a beloved feline friend was ready to transition from the physical to non-physical.
A true ‘reiki cat’, she’d received reiki frequently during the 14 years we had together. She would seek me out whenever I was giving myself reiki, and was happy to curl up and purr beside my clients during their treatments!
However, this opinionated Calico knew when it was her time. In the end she refused treatments, preferring to be simply petted and loved as she made her peaceful exit.
As for me, I was grateful for all the quality time reiki for pets had given us, and comforted by the knowledge she had received spiritual healing as well as veterinary care.
