To really learn reiki, let’s start with some history.
Reiki Healing began as a Tibetan Buddhist practice some 3,000 years ago. Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese minister, rediscovered it in the mid 1800s.
Usui spent the rest of his life traveling throughout Japan, teaching his followers to channel energy through themselves to promote healing in others. Because of his efforts, now anyone with an open heart can learn reiki to benefit themselves and the world at large.
Reiki is a hands-on healing technique using a specific ray of life force that can only be channeled by people who’ve been attuned to it.
When you learn reiki you can accesses this particular form of energy to promote healing. It flows through your body into your client’s, according to your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs.
Reiki flows through negatively affected parts of your energy field and charges them with positive energy. This raises the vibrational level in and around your body, breaking up negative energy and clearing energy pathways, so life force can flow naturally.
Reiki differs from many other forms of natural healing in that it can be done with the practitioner in a different location from you. This energy is not affected by distance.
During their training, reiki practitioners receive a specific initiation allowing them to tap into the Universal Live Force.
The three degrees of reiki each require a special attunement.
When you learn Reiki First Degree you can give energy to any living thing by touching it. This enables you to treat yourself, family members, your dogs, or cats, even house plants! I have elaborated on specific treatments for cats and dogs in another post.
When you learn reiki Second Degree you can give distant treatments, and treat mental or emotional problems.
Distant reiki healing means you can be in any part of the world and still connect with the reiki practitioner of your choice. Distance is no barrier to powerful reiki. You can also have healing sent to a past or future event.
For example, I gave reiki healing (and sent distant reiki when I couldn’t be in the same room) to both my daughter and daughter-in-law when they went into labor. As I projected the energy, I held an image of them smiling, holding their babies and saying how easy and peaceful the birth had been.
Both had successful, non-medicated home-births, and were grateful for the comfort reiki gave them.
To give a distant reiki healing, all a Master reiki practitioner like myself really needs is your name (though a photo is nice) to direct the energy to you, and a time when you can be relaxed and ready to receive healing.
When you learn Reiki Third Degree level you become a reiki master. Your ability to heal is increased, and you can teach reiki to others. I hope you enjoyed this article and that it inspired you to learn reiki. Please contact me for a treatment or training!
