Escape the Worry Whirlpool

Have you ever been caught up in a whirlpool? Everything spins so madly you don’t know which end is up, and fighting against it leads only to exhaustion. A worry whirlpool is much the same. Something is causing incessant worry, making your head spin. The resulting negative thoughts cause stress and anxiety, and fighting it only draws you in deeper.
Not only that, but because thoughts become things, your worrisome thoughts are vibrating out and matching up with other equally undesirable thoughts, conversations and situations, until it seems your whole life is turned on its head.
If you can’t fight your way out, how do you escape this downward spiral?
The obvious solution is to stop thinking those thoughts, but this is much easier said than done because the Law of Attraction is keeping them coming. It’s much easier to distract yourself by taking a nap, watching a movie or visiting a friend. This will give you the mental space necessary to begin thinking different thoughts. You won’t shift directly from worry to happiness, but you can bridge your worrisome thoughts by repeating phrases such as, ‘things always work out for me’ or ‘I don’t have to think about that right now’ to break the cycle.
Think of a well-worn path in a field. It’s easy to keep going down that path because the weeds have been trampled down. You don’t have to think about where you’re putting your feet, it’s become automatic. When you make the decision to take a new path it’s difficult initially, but gets easier each time you use it, while the old path grows over and is forgotten.
It’s the same with your thoughts. Each time you choose the new ‘path’ it becomes easier and strengthens your resolve. You are creating new patterns of thought that serve you while simultaneously releasing the negative ones that don’t.
You can take things further with the ‘tell a new story’ process. As the worrisome situation shows what you don’t want, what you do want becomes clear. I recommend sitting with pen and paper and imagining it unfolding exactly as you’d like. You don’t have to know how it can be resolved, or even the precise results you want. Just write how happy everyone is with the miraculous solution, holding the feeling in your heart while picturing their happy faces.
If worrying about a loved one, remember we are eternal beings who chose certain challenges each lifetime for the learning it will provide. What we think is a bad thing may be just the experience needed for their spiritual growth, leading to much happier circumstances for them. If that doesn’t bring relief, consider that worrying gives more energy, thus power, to unwanted things. It is essentially praying for what you don’t want, and robs you of the ability to help.
Your best defense against worry whirlpools is to shine your light as bright as you can. This will uplift those you were worried about, and anyone else lucky enough to be around you. Try these tips and soon you will shake the worry habit forever!

The Circle Of Life

The circle of life. This phrase holds a new meaning for me today. For the first time I find myself in the role of caregiver for my mother, who at 89 is in the moderate stage of dementia. We live at opposite ends of the country, I am here to relieve my sister. In my own neck of the woods I was caregiver for a grandson since he was a baby, which ironically prepared me well for this experience.
I am used to going slow, giving little feet time to catch up. To offering a steadying hand on curbs, and having extra watchful eyes when crossing streets. To being ready to offer assistance with shoes and buttons, but not interfering until necessary.  To giving gentle reminders to wash hands after using the bathroom. To praising works of art created in coloring books. To telling stories and singing songs at bedtime.
I have been blessed with the gift of patience and am particularly grateful for it now in this new role. And I am grateful for the opportunity to extend it to the wonderful woman who taught it to me through example in the first place. Her cornflower-blue eyes have faded,  her body wizened and shrunken with age, but the kindness and gentleness she has always embodied is there still. And the love is still palpable.
Now I am the one doing the tucking in, kissing her head and wishing sweet dreams as she did for me so long ago. I am the one endlessly nagging her to get out of bed in the morning, as she did for me in my teen years. Together we look at pictures and videos of her great-grandchildren, and marvel at their beauty and charm, and I am thankful for the technology that permits this and face-time visits with my/her little ones so far away.
Today she held my hand, looked into my eyes, and told me she wished I was her real daughter. Summoning the courage she instilled in me I thanked her, gently corrected her and held her tight, fighting the tears and reminding myself to focus on the love behind the words.
It is only a short visit, just 10 days. 10 days to lovingly convey how much she means to me, and how I have tried to live up to the exemplary example she set.  10 days to assure her I have a happy life and share snippets of it through stories about my children and grandchildren. 10 days to pack in as much love as I can, not knowing if I will be blessed with another opportunity, or if I am, if she will still know me.
Today I am feeling the circle of life. I feel it roll relentlessly onward. One day, perhaps I will be the one old and frail, dependent on the love and protection of my children. I think of how quickly the years have passed on this journey of life, and reflect on the many changes in my life and of those still to come.
I see so clearly that love is the only thing worthy of our time and energy. The only thing of any true value in this world. Yet another lesson my mother taught me. Amidst all the twists and turns and changes still to come I will remember there are those who are watching me to see how to navigate life, and strive to set the fine example she did. And when I fly back home and resume my own life again, I will remember these 10 days with my mother.
Update: Jan 11/2021  I am so blessed to have had my mother with us till May 19/2020. She was and continues to be an inspiration to me and all who knew her.

The Art Of Visualization

Visualization is the art of using your imagination to create a life situation you truly desire, by conjuring a clear image and focusing on it till it manifests.
Elite athletes use visualization in their training to boost performance. Russian scientists conducted a study comparing four groups of Olympic athletes. Group one did 100% physical training. Group two did 75% physical and 25% visualization. Group three was 50-50. Group four was 25% physical and 75% visualization. Who do you think performed the best? Group four!
But it doesn’t stop there! The uses of visualization are virtually limitless! We all use our imagination daily, but unfortunately most people use it their detriment, creating problems by conjuring worst-case scenarios they unknowingly project it into their future.
Fortunately, you can use it deliberately to create what you really want in life, including health, wealth, and love.
Every creation, from a sandwich to a musical masterpiece, begins as thought. An idea creates an image of the form, which draws physical energy to itself, allowing it to manifest into the physical plane.
To use this power to create your ideal life, follow these simple steps:

  1. Decide what you really want. This visualization is your blueprint, so feel into each aspect to ensure you’re creating what you truly want. Write it down, including lots of rich detail.

  1. Find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed for 5 – 10 minutes, then imagine your life as you’d like it be. Pretend whatever you want is now yours!

  1. Focus on your goal, using all of your senses to vividly imagine the situation unfolding just as you want it to – feel the feelings. Live it in the privacy of your mind with as much belief and gratitude as you can muster.

Then watch the magic as you see and hear evidence of these thoughts becoming things over the coming days.
The key to visualizing is to make it as realistic as if you’re living it now. Don’t worry about how it could come about, just focus on what you want as if you’ve already achieved or acquired it.
Thinking thoughts that fill you with passionate, positive emotions while visualizing will draw it quicker. The focused thought will cause the circumstances of your life to rearrange to produce more of that elated emotion in your life.
For best results visualize daily, perhaps closing by saying, “this, or something even better, manifests for my highest good,” leaving the Universe free to provide something even better than what your conscious mind can come up with.
You can amp up your belief factor by taking some actions to make these visions for your future feel real. Visit a show home, test drive that car, or make a vision board of things you’ll enjoy while living your dream life.
Visualize as vividly as you can — see it from the end. Imagine yourself already there and before long, you will be.
I have created an entire 21 day program around this, where I combine visualization recordings with affirmations to really drive the vision home! Check it out here

Detox Your Brain

detoxyourmind-copy1-1200-wplokAre you busy trying to detox your body? Don’t forget to detox your brain!

“The mind is everything. What you think, you become.” – Buddha

This time of year countless fad diets are floating around, coaxing billions from people turning to miracle foods and supplements to detox their body and lose weight. Makes sense. You are what you eat, right? Healthy is as healthy does?

Growing up we were told food and drink are the building blocks for a healthy body. Taking a daily multivitamin was considered de-rigor for maximum health – until recently. Medical journals such as Annals of Internal Medicine recently blew the lid off that theory when they published studies concluding multivitamins don’t work any better than placebo pills.

So it turns out, you are not what you eat.
Well here’s something to chew on. You are what you think you are.

There’s no point in making other lifestyle changes until you detox your brain! Toxic self-talk will keep you trapped in a cycle of negativity, creating stress and dis-ease until disease manifests. I’m sorry to say no amount of healthy smoothies can negate that, my friend.
But I know something that will.
Forty years ago Dr. Maxwell Maltz’s ground-breaking book Psychocybernetics proposed that a person can’t perform better or worse than what they believe to be true. Since then, further studies in neuropsychology concluded we have the power to change our lives through our innate ability to change our minds.
Only you have the ability to change the way you think and feel about yourself. It’s relatively easy to affect change in your life, but first you must stop wasting energy listening to critical inner dialogue and reprogram those internal conversations.
We think constantly, day and night, but up to 85% of those thoughts are habitual and no longer serve you.
Affirmations, on the other hand, are thoughts you deliberately choose because you want the results they’ll produce. They’re a powerful tool to help you replace negative mind chatter with beneficial thought patterns that can change your life, and they work hand in hand with visualization.
Affirmations should always be phrased positively, in the present tense. For example, “I love and respect my healthy body now.”
Set aside time each day to focus on your goal, using all your senses to imagine it just as you wish it to be. Then, while holding the image in your mind, say your affirmations silently or aloud, or write them 10 times. If negative thoughts arise, release them before returning to your positive thoughts.

Don’t think affirmations can work for you? Quell that doubt by writing “my affirmations will work for me whether I believe them or not,” 10 times a day for two weeks.
Recognizing your thoughts create your reality puts you in the driver’s seat of your life. Like a GPS, affirmations and visualizations will ensure you get where you want to go, every time.

Power Water!

Have you had your power water today?
Drinking Water:

  • Helps Maintain the Balance of Body Fluids
  • Can Help Control Calories
  • Helps Energize Muscles
  • Keeps Skin Looking Good
  •  Helps Your Kidneys
  •  Helps Maintain Normal Bowel Function

We are 70% water, so small wonder it has such an impact on us. But why just drink water when you can drink Power Water!

Masaru Emoto, featured in ‘What the Bleep do we know?’ is a Japanese author best known for his claims that human consciousness has an effect on the molecular structure of water.
After years of research, Emoto concluded that high-quality water forms beautiful and intricate frozen crystals, while low-quality water has difficulty forming crystals.
Emoto demonstrated that positive changes to water crystals can be achieved through prayer, music, or by attaching written words to a container of water. The beautiful image to your left is a water crystal from a container that had the word  ‘Love’ on it. In his experiments, water with words like ‘I hate you’ on it had distorted, ugly images.
Why not put his research to work for you?

Follow these simple steps to get the most from your water:

  • Fill a 2 liter glass jug with the highest quality water you have access to
  • Tape the words ‘Love’ or ‘Joy’ to the container
  • Hold the jug and project thoughts of love and gratitude to it
  • If you know Reiki or other energy work, send that energy to the water
  • Select a special glass to designate as your personal water glass – crystal preferably
  • place crystal bracelets around the glass (or around a plastic water bottle)
  • Use what ever crystals resonate with you, but if you’re using a plastic water bottle, be sure to include an Amethyst bracelet to purify the water of any toxins from the plastic.

Every time you drink, say ‘thank you for this water’
With this practice, you will continue to reap the benefits of gratitude as well as the myriad benefits of drinking more water – and, depending on the crystals you choose, you’ll be infusing the water with those qualities as well.

I find that adding a bit of ceremony to something I normally would take for granted encourages me to drink more, and feel special doing it! Try it, and it’ll do the same for you! Let me know how you make out!
Love & Light, Alexandria
