Best Wishes for a Happy New Year!
I’m not Irish but I love the blessing, “May the most you wish for be the least you get,” and I wish it for you this New Year’s Eve!
Nearly half of us wouldn’t dream of toasting Happy New Year without having made their annual list of resolutions. And for most of my life, I was one of them! Until I noticed how similar they were from year to year. I began joking that I should just leave the year blank and laminate the list to save myself the trouble – till I realized consistent failure isn’t particularly funny!
That’s when it hit me – this year, with my newly revised Wishful Thanking book sitting on my desk, hot off the press, I realized I’ve been teaching people to make daily Wish Lists to bring their dreams to fruition for 10 years. I began to think more seriously about wishes.
Wishes are not just for children and Disney movies. They’re a POWERFUL manifestation tool! For what is a wish but a thought infused with emotion, and as many great spiritual teachers have taught us, thoughts become things. Ergo, wishes become things!
I’m not talking about wishing something that’s currently happening isn’t, or wishing someone would behave differently. The key is in the phrasing, and the intention behind it. Whether written or spoken, wishes should be phrased in a way that reflects your desired results and enables your conscious, deliberate creations to come to fruition. Instead of wishing something and hoping it comes true, start with the attitude (intention) that it is winging it’s way to you NOW because you wish it and declare it to be so!
You can list your wishes, similar to a New Year’s Resolution list, but with keeping the focus on yourself, and with the end result in mind. I’ve created an example for you here using some typical resolutions:
New Year’s Resolution
1) I will lose 10 lbs by February
2) I will have a new love interest for Valentine’s Day
3) I will be debt-free this time next year
The list above is clear and definitive, they are strong declarations, but you’ll notice they’re all written in the future tense. So that’s where they’ll stay. They’re also a bit lack luster, not particularly exciting, and in all likelihood quickly forgotten. Now here’s how you can tweak them, and generate the excitement that will help you achieve them!
New Life Wish List
1) I am so happy and grateful my wish for a happy, healthy body came true so quickly, I happily claim my slender beauty!
2) This year Valentine’s Day was so fun with my new sweetie, just like I wished for! I’m having the best time, we’re such a good fit it’s like every day is Valentine’s Day!
3) Holy cow money is flowing to me from all directions! I have WAY more than I need, I can do what I want when I want and still have lots to share with others!
Your turn! Make your wish list, then spend a few minutes projecting yourself into that happy future where all your wishes have come true! And if you really want to experience a shift in 2018, make it a daily habit to wish the best for yourself and everyone else! Best wishes!
